Dr. Sarah Hart is a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and a California-licensed acupuncturist. Sarah comes to Dragon Rising from an integrative medical team in Oakland, CA. As part of the Functional Restoration Program, she provided Chinese medicine to help patients manage chronic pain and meet their treatment goals to improve their quality of life.
She earned a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at Five Branches University with focuses in psychology, trauma, and Classical Chinese Medicine. She stays current with trauma informed care practices. She received her Master’s Degree from Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley, CA where she also worked in the herbal medicine pharmacy. She had the honor to provide acupuncture to MD’s, RN’s and staff at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Sarah also had the privilege of studying Medical QiGong with Suzannah Stason in the lineage of Suzanne Friedman.
Sarah received her undergraduate degree in biology: ecology and pre-med from Colby College in Maine. She worked as cartographer for an agricultural land trust. She knew she wanted to be an acupuncturist when she learned that Chinese medicine looks at the body like an ecological system and combines the art of science with the spirit of healing.
She also served as President of CSOMA, an acupuncture professional organization in California. She currently volunteers on committees for the national acupuncture associations. She enjoys time with her family and son.
Sarah’s treatments support patients’ ability to restore balance in their life. She is very excited to be a part of the Dragon Rising team and is looking forward to meeting you.

Christopher R. Owens, Dipl.O.M., L.Ac.
Christopher is a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and California licensed acupuncturist. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Oriental Medicine. He received his Master’s degree from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley. During his Master’s program, he had the honor of treating NCAA DIvision I athletes at UC Berkeley as well as the privilege to study abroad in Tianjin, China and in Shikoku, Japan. He has been an adjunct professor at ACCHS in Oakland, the Swedish Institute in NYC, and the Atlanta School of Massage. His first career as a performing artist spanned more than 20 years as a professional dancer, actor, and singer. During this time he had a dual career as a licensed massage therapist with a focus on both Orthopedic and Asian styles of massage including Chinese Medical Massage (Tuina), which led him to the study of acupuncture. His approach to Chinese Medicine is greatly influenced by his ongoing studies with Master Jeffrey Yuen, an unparalleled resource in the application of Classical Chinese Medicine. He has also been influenced by his studies of Orthopedic and Neurological approaches to acupuncture through his studies with Dr. Anthony Von der Muhll and Dr. Clayton Shiu, and Tung-style acupuncture with Dr. Henry McCann. In Chinese Medicine, body, mind, and spirit are inseparable - treating one without attention to the others can elicit incomplete results. In appreciation of this, Christopher strives to tailor treatments to individuals by seeking to understand each patient’s unique pattern and presentation.
